Determination and perseverance can overcome almost any of life's hurdles. Author Gopal Dorai relied on an abundant supply of these traits to endure the many obstacles that he encountered through the years. His compelling story chronicles the life of a gifted boy, born and raised in a remote village in India, who pursues his dream of a better life through education. Dorai's personal journey of achievement spans several decades and is educational as well as entertaining. His touching honesty allows readers the opportunity to experience America through an immigrant's eyes. Vividly depicted and overflowing with human drama, From Vilayur to Baltimore is the memorable story of one man's triumph over adversity.

SR:
I basically finished the book in a period of 24 hours.
Needless to say, I found it interesting, fascinating and
educational. It must have been a labor of love, and perhaps,
even of some tribulation, to put down on paper, in a simple but absorbing style, one's life experiences. The description
of the author's early life on the farm in beautiful Kerala was fascinating.

Just finished reading the book. Couldn't keep it away until
I finished it. It is very interesting, fascinating, very
flowing and has brought out your frank and open-mindedness.
I am amazed how you still remember all the little details of
your earlier life. As you rightly say, it is the perseverence, confidence and determination that makes a "true
person" into what he is today and not what he was.

V N S:
Dr. Gopal Dorai has written his autobiography entitled
"From Vilayur to Baltimore", which is very interesting and
inspiring. His story is relevant to any immigrant from India, or for that matter any other country, whether one
hails from South, North, East or West.
