Syrup Sandwich description:
Syrup Sandwich: a life of measured progression is an honest, charming and witty account of creative nonfiction that explores life in Baltimore MD. This book takes its reader on a journey through the story of a man who has, while living his entire life in “urban” America, enjoyed experiences that transcended the trappings of his environment. Through his use of poems, essays and short stories, Devlon E Waddell pulls together a collection of captions that enlightens, informs and inspires the reader.

I love this book!!!!!
Philly Steve:
I really enjoyed the heart-felt offerings of a black man not afraid to speak of his emotions. Waddell's voice in his stories totally goes against the stereotypes set by media and society. I know for a fact that some of us have been held prisoner to the emotions and behavors attached to having grown up in poverty. I am inspired by his admission of his being an "underachieving perfectionist". A quick and incredibly moving read that cries for a re-read.

A really great book! Very informative and entertaining. Just because you grow up with someone does not mean you really know them as a person. I especially enjoyed the cover art. It makes me see my neighborhood in a different light. Thanks Devlon.
Carrie:
This is a great book; very well written, lots of interesting stories with a humble yet entertaining tone. I highly recommend it to anyone more interested in the current topic of race relations... hey, who isn't?! Thanks, Devlon, for writing such a great memoir.
