One Came Home description:
We can bring no greater honor to those who serve our country in war than to remember their sacrifices. Army veteran and author Vincent Krepps has devoted much of his life to doing just that. One Came Home is this soldier's intensely personal account of the Korean War, and a commitment to his brother that has endured for more than fifty years.

Anecdotes and photos from their Depression-era childhood establish the strong bond between Krepps and his twin brother, Richard, who joined the Army together at eighteen. Krepps recalls the emotion, confusion, heroism and brutality of his wartime experiences, and how the anguish over losing his brother in Korea helped fuel a personal crusade to honor all his fallen and missing comrades.

One Came Home is a truly gripping and evocative account of history, relationships, war, and brotherhood. Veterans, families of servicemen, history students, or anyone interested in learning about the Korean War will find it a rich historical resource.

Cat:

A story about much more than just one soldier coming home from Korea, this book helps us to understand why thousands of our boys did not.

ONE CAME HOME is a quick read comparable to listening to your favorite uncle telling his story about when he was a young man. On the other hand, questions are answered about the forgotten war; a conflict; simply a police action. And, all the makings of an A+ book report are there if only it would be transcribed for K-6.

Yes, President Clinton spoke it, "the Korean War." He was the first government official to refer to it as such... out loud.... in public.

It's a book that needs to be read because it contributes to educating the people of the United States so some of the mistakes made in our history are not repeated. Ever!!!
