Days of Gratitude description:
Steamboats transported both cargo and passengers along America's waterways well into the twentieth century. In Days of Gratitude, historian William Denny tells the story of the Gratitude, a steamboat ferry that once operated on the Chesapeake Bay, and the Maryland town named for her. Days of Gratitude recounts how the steamboat came to serve the people of Rock Hall, located in Kent County on Maryland's eastern shore. By capturing the role the Gratitude played in connecting this small town with the centers of commerce in Baltimore and Annapolis, Denny provides a glimpse of the significant impact steamboats made in the lives and economies of communities across the United States.
