A Handful of Dust description:
|
|
|
From the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico, to the streets and bars
of the Midwest, to the lakes and forests of northern Michigan, A HANDFUL
OF DUST charts the journey of Nagashana as he wavers between the
path of the poet and the path of the spirit; and explores the nature of earth
renewal, quantum reality,
mysticism, unity, and what it means to be a Ghost Dancer in today's world
-- to dance with all of one's being for the earth. To take up a handful of
dust and throw it into both past and future, to cloud the eyes of those that
seek an end to the chance for a natural, artistic and balanced way of life.

Another masterpiece by Beaudin! My only complaint: not enough Sid...

Kate Weilnau, Coldwater, MI (poet and director of the Meta Cafe Poetry Slam):
I just finished your book and wanted to let you know how much I loved it. I especially enjoyed the way you incorporated the writer and the writing process into it because it let me see just how you created such a beautiful treatise. And the ending brought it all together into a beautiful, unified whole.

I couldn't put your book down for a few days. It was incredible and enlightening to read about some of my own eternal, subconscious struggles.

Tamarack Song, Three Rivers, WI (Director of Teaching Drum Outdoor School):
I'm glad to have been introduced to your book -- it deserves an audience. We now have it in our library, and I'm going to recommend it in particular to people who are struggling with their understanding of serendipitous events and how they relate to a person's reason for being.

Mark W., Chicago, IL:
I think that what's strong is that A Handful of Dust isn't really so much about writing a book as it is about a search for spiritual understanding and -- and this was fascinating to me -- searching for the meaning, relevance, and point of writing at all. The book kind of stokes (for me) a sense of wanderlust, of wanting to go out into the woods where I grew up and just kind of be there for awhile. I don't think it's a book you can passively read.

Finished the book. Excellent. It has a great feel, as many of my favorite books do. Leaves you thinking in the narrators world.

Found your book inspiring! As a result, will have to read it a second time, make notes, etc. There is a lot going on within the covers that I need revisit.

William Heyen, Brockport, NY (author of Crazy Horse in Stillness):
Thoreau complained that nobody in our villages and towns and cities was reading the great books, but you are, as is clear in the undercurrents of A Handful of Dust. Many thanks for this book, and congratulations on becoming the person who could write it. Nagashana is a memorable character, out there in front of us ... and will survive the current carnage....

Joe B., Traverse City, MI:
Late last night I decided to give your book a glance -- I finished it
before I went to bed. It was a great read.
