About the Author
Deborah Ribis has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. Her vast experience has included working in trauma, intensive care, utilization management (helping different agencies pool their resources for patient benefit), medical care evaluation, and medical case management (where she coordinated medical and vocational services for injured patients). She has an intimate working knowledge of the workers compensation, third party liability, managed care, and indemnity health care systems. In her role as a a Nationally Certified Nurse Life Care Planner, Deborah assessed the injured or ill individual as a whole, interpreted information received from the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, legal team, case management, and insurance carrier, and completed a Life Care Plan, used to identify and project lifetime medical, vocational, and personal care needs and costs for the injured or ill individual. Deborah has also provided behind-the-scenes medical-legal consultation services for the insurance and legal industry with regard to issues of malpractice or liability.
