Christmas On The Tide description:
Story Leader. It was December 1882 when the townfolk of Leesburg, NJ boarded the oyster schooner Almira Cox. They were leaving "on the tide" for a Christmas shopping trip to Philadelphia. The classic, "Christmas On The Tide," chronicles the adventure of four boys age 10 to 14 as they: visit the sights of Fort Delaware, marvel at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and birth the vessel at Market Street wharf. They covered the downtown area in Philadelphia by foot, and horse car trolley, and did Christmas shopping on Market Street. This was a quiet gentler time with an appreciation of how things were a century ago. Family friendly and a great addition to your book collection.
